Matthew Hayden talks about his life experiences and Haines Hunter...

Ever since I can remember I have shared a relationship with Haines Hunter. The Haydenís have tagged on to the Legendary status Haines Hunter is today, enjoying adventures one could only dream of. My Haines Hunter passion has allowed me to explore inner desirers, taking me to destinations right around this magnificent state from Bammaga and beyond to Thursday Island right down to the Canyons off the spectacular Gold Coast.
Boating is compromise at its peak. Too small and that adventure you want just seems beyond your reach, too big and your off to work paying off the F truck you need to tow the blustered thing. Escalating fuel costs and perhaps the biggest barrier of all time lend themselves to frustration and can lead to broken dreams and a very sour taste in ones month. Haines Hunter however once again take a lot of that on board when designing boats which gives you the flexibility in tow away boats that handle most of the circumstances you will face.
The recreational boating industry requirements are full of pit falls. The biggest is perhaps the lack of experience required to venture out into the big blue. Basic knowledge is easy to attain through the completion of your boating and recreational license with your State or Territory Transport Department, but one can never replace the real deal. Haines Hunter however instills confidence through 1000's of hours sea time, which is incorporated into the design of each of its incredible vessels.
One can safely say I am a boating tragic. In it, on it, around it but certainly near it, is essential in my life. An unusual affair considering I grew up in Kingaroy country Queensland. True however was my infatuation for boats ever since 1978 when this beautiful little orange and white 16C Haines Hunter, speckled with fragments of red dust pulled in to the shed from my fathers journey down from the big smoke. Was she grand! I learnt to ski behind her on a mate's private dam on the way to Kumbia. I caught my first Golden Spotted Trevally off Moon point on the glorious western side of Fraser Island. In fact she frequented that area almost every winter as my grandparents would travel to take cover from our cold winter snaps up in Kingaroy taking shelter in Harvey Bay's warm embrace. My only brother who is 5 years my elder would escape with her to the Whitsundays.
Unfortunately this beauty met her fate with the notorious Amity Point Channel on South Passage Bar. Salvaged and sold to a pro crab fisherman operating out of Jacobs Well. Reluctantly she parted but once loved never forgotten. She was my first love and indebted I remain as she filled the void to my adventuresome heart.
I currently own her big sister, the 1994 680 Patriot sea legend. Man, what a "smick" outfit she is. Heavier than most her size with lots of weight just gives you that added security in the dreaded arvo runs during the summer when the prevailing sea breezes beat you to the punch. We love her but like everyone else we just want to get out there more and more. I guess that is the bug talking, as to be fair there is always just one more trip, just one more spot. Look if you can involve your family, have a ball with your friends in places God himself chooses to live then surely that is worth living the Haines Hunter dream, I serve full testimony to this dream!
