Haines Hunter Further Cements Its Offshore Game Performance

Unless you have been living under a rock, you would have heard about the amazing run of southern bluefin tuna that has recently hit Victoria’s west coast. A late August run of monster fish with models in excess of 150kg has recently sent Victorian game anglers into fervour.

To successfully target and land big tuna in excess of 100kg in high seas and rough water requires a specific style of boat.

The largest tuna caught this season so far was a whopping 164.3kg, which came on a double hook up with another fish at 111.8kg fish. Both of these fish were taken by Haines Hunter Team members Brad Parkinson (on the wheel), Greg Hurst, Luke Meli (on the rod) and Adam Mason (on the other rod) out of Adam’s Haines Hunter 600 Classic.

Tim further comments; “That was just one of many captures for a Haines Hunter vessel in this current run of fish, but that was a special capture. A 111kg tuna is feat all on its own but the fact they had a double hook up and managed to land one in excess of 160kg is simply amazing. While those Haines Hunter team members are excellent fishermen and a great crew, it is also testament to what an amazing game fishing platform the Haines Hunter is”.
