Creating long-lasting memories: Episode 4 of the Haines Hunter Show
In Episode 4 of The Haines Hunter Show, host Pat Panetta is once again joined by John Haber, Managing Director of Haines Hunter. The conversation continues to spotlight how this premium Australian boat manufacturer is staying ahead of the curve and building upon the Haines Hunter legacy. From the smart use of materials to building boats that cater to different markets, this episode dives deep into what makes Haines Hunter a truly enduring brand.
The Use of Materials in Haines Hunter Boats

Haines Hunter takes a considered approach to the use of materials, carefully selecting combinations tailored to suit different areas and purposes on the boat. Rather than using composites throughout the entire build, John points out that each material is selected based on its performance and suitability for specific parts of Haines Hunter boats. Materials like Divinycell, Thermo-Lite, Coremat and fibreglass are used strategically. For example, Thermo-Lite and Divinycell are often used in side panels for sound deadening, while full composite stringer systems are constructed from solid fibreglass in-house. “Some of those materials perform better in certain applications”, John explains, emphasising that performance and structural integrity are what matter most when it comes to fibreglass fishing boats in Australia.
Dealing with Negative Online Comments
In the age of social media, negative comments come with the territory, even for a trusted boating brand in Australia like Haines Hunter. But John takes it in his stride. “Every brand has these issues”, he says, pointing out that most people can tell the difference between genuine constructive feedback and online trolling. To those who are unsure or sceptical, John extends an open invitation: “Make an appointment and come and have a look at our facility”. Visitors often leave impressed by the cleanliness and professionalism of the operation. “We’re a 65 years’ strong company”, John proclaims. That kind of legacy doesn’t happen by chance; it’s the result of consistent performance, customer trust and an unwavering focus on quality.

Building Boats that Cater to Various Markets
A key strength of Haines Hunter is its ability to serve a wide range of boating markets. From fishermen looking for offshore fishing boats in Queensland and divers seeking custom rigged boats on the Gold Coast through to marlin enthusiasts wanting the best boats for marlin fishing, there’s a Haines Hunter boat to suit every lifestyle.
John explains that the brand supports everything from serious offshore fishing to diving, family cruising and water sports. Every boat can be tailored for different uses and preferences thanks to their customisable configurations. But at the heart of every build is a commitment to comfort, quality, and above all, safety. “The beauty for us is we set the foundation of where we believe we need to be strong”, says John. Regardless of where or how Haines Hunter boats are used, they can be relied on to deliver both performance and peace of mind.
Creating Long-Lasting Memories

“Creating long-lasting memories” is a slogan as well as a lifestyle philosophy for Haines Hunter. John shares how some of his most cherished moments happened on a boat, including meeting his wife through fishing and spending time on the water with family.
For many, boating is a way of creating lifelong memories on the water and enjoying shared experiences. From the thrill of landing that elusive big fish to peaceful moments on the water, Haines Hunter boats are built to be part of those unforgettable experiences. “There’s nothing more rewarding than when you are sitting around a table, talking about the great times”, John reflects. It’s those precious fishing and boating memories with family and friends that keep generations of Australians coming back to Haines Hunter.
